Go Johnny!

Saturday, February 28, 2009

John received his 5 year certificate and his watch from Best Buy yesterday! We still have no word as to what is going on with the restructure, but he did receive the most amazing letter of recognition in his e-mail the other day. Back in October when he was interacting with a customer he had discovered some business needs this customer had and set him up with a Best Buy for Businesses program. Now that this customer's business is growing they have placed some major orders with the company which will end up saving his store from being under budget for the year, and the customer went as far to say "because of John's remarkable level of service in the store and the level of service he received from the business department out of the store he will never buy from anywhere else!" He just secured all of the managers in his store their bonuses that they were in jeopardy of losing! This letter of praise was written by the Best Buy Business Account Manager and was sent to every store manager in Texas and to every District Staff Member! It is always a good thing to have this kind of recognition pointing out you specifically to every store in Texas when there is a restructure in the works. Hopefully with this kind of recognition and his tenure that he has secured himself a job this next year. Either way I am super proud of my man and all of his hard work he does day in and day out! We love you Johnny!!

3 Month Birthday

February 2009: 3 months old

My baby is 3 months old today! To celebrate she woke up EXTRA early this morning!! It wasn't really her fault though. The apartment upstairs happens to have really weak floors above her nursery that are super loud and creaky and the neighbors are exceptionally heavy footed when they walk. Really I wouldn't have been able to sleep through that ruckus either. I have marked this occasion by packing up her newborn sized clothes because they stopped fitting her at the end of January. For some reason that is a really hard thing to do. Not because I will miss those particular clothes, but because I know she will never be that small again. I can remember how those impossibly small clothes seemed to swallow her whole the first weeks we were home from the hospital, and now they ride half way up her arms and legs. They remind me of being super preggo and holding them up to my large belly trying to imagine what baby Dunson was going to look like. This whole watching your babies grow thing gets easier sometime right?

Month 2 Discoveries

Thursday, February 19, 2009

February 2009: 2 months old

In month 2 we have had some exciting new developments in Bailey's world.
She has discovered her hands, and they are both sneaky and mesmerizing!
She can hold her head up during tummy time, even though it's tricky!
Her vision has improved so now we like to look at pictures and bat at toys!

And even though she refuses to sleep in her crib at the moment, she does find the mobile and the toys very amusing for a little bit... she expresses how pleased she is by kicking frantically.

Prayers

Monday, February 16, 2009

As we all know our nation is going through some trying times with the economy. I have seen it's effects on the people closest to me already and now it's come face to face with our small family. Every year Best Buy does a restructure where they "fine tune" it's operating model in order to stay ahead of the competition. Sometimes they add positions, sometimes they eliminate positions and other times they merge positions thus eliminating positions still. In my experience with these restructures my position with the company has been eliminated 3 different times, but fortunately they always had a place for me which is how I am able to stay optimistic about the future. A major restructure is in the works, and we are sure their will be some major changes and cutbacks. We don't know exactly what is going to happen, but whatIS confirmed is that the store John works at is moving down a revenue band. In his current store structure their are two Sales Manager positions (which is what he does) and with the new band their will only be room for one. Now he and the other Sales Manager will be undergoing an assessment so the GM can determine who stays in their role. This is not a pleasant thing for either party since both John and his co-worker, who I guess is now his competition, have families they support. We ask for prayers, that no matter what the turn out is, that their will be a position available for John because he truly loves his job and takes much pride in this career. We think we will know something within the next week or two, but for now we are in a stressful situation.

February 2009: 2 months old

This next series were done by request of my Mom. When Skylar was a baby Candi and Kobi had given her a framed pic of him posed like this and she adored it. So much that she needed one just like it when Bella came around, and we knew it was only a matter of time before she started asking for the Bailey version. Candi and I are pretty certain Bella and Skylar's were done when they were at least a month or two older, but she says we are wrong. Bailey tried, but she still struggles holding that head up while on her tummy. Seems like tricky business for a baby. This is the best of what I like to refer to as the Wobble-Head Collection.

She didn't last for long in this pose, but she was a good sport about it. We will probably try this one again next month. In the large version of these pics you can see how blue her eyes are in real life.

Time for Spring!

Wednesday, February 4, 2009

February 2009: 2 months old

It has been a fun and productive week here at the Dunson household! As a Christmas present to each of the store managers, the GM granted two paid days off to be taken any time in January or February. He was especially nice to schedule John's days off and the comp days all in a row so that he ended up getting not only the weekend of the Super Bowl off, but an actual 6 days stretch of time away from work! That was the best gift he could have given to a new family for sure! We had originally planned to drive down to Austin to visit the family, but it didn't work out for my Dad and Uncle's agendas. Sorry cousins! We really want to come visit you guys so we are still trying to work on it. I HAVE to see Molly while she is in town it's been way too long, so don't let her leave yet! But even though we didn't get a chance to leave Dallas, we still had a really good time relaxing hanging out at home.
We had a few warm breezy days here in Dallas so spring fever hit me hard! Ever since we have lived in this apartment I have either been huge and pregnant, recovering from a c section (takes 6 weeks!), and handling a newborn while my husband has been working long crazy holiday hours in retail mayhem. Needless to say the condition of the house is less than perfect. I have usually managed to keep it picked up, but certain things have remained untouched or out of control. But now I am healed and I had a helper for a week so we cleaned this place from top to bottom. It is sparkly and fresh and every room in the house carries my favorite scent (fresh laundry). All spots in the carpet have been scrubbed, all dishes are done, no dust or smudges or clutter anywhere, every single thing that can be washed has been washed including John's car. We have even finished the nursery and Bailey's bathroom decor... well almost, just a couple small project left, but I'd say it's about 85-90% done. So with our victory of conquering the house we invited the family over for a Super Bowl/ Dinner party and had a lot of fun.
Also with dreams of spring came the overwhelming desire to shop for cute spring baby clothes. Little girls are dangerous to have because they are so much fun to shop for! All of the sweet spring dresses and skirts were too much for me to handle... I may have gone overboard. Ebay can be an addictive place for a stay at home mom, but I did get a steal on all of her cute clothes. What can I say, besides Baby Gap and Gymboree really know what they are doing. She is so spoiled already. She has better, more stylish clothes than either John or I have and her room is the most tricked out room in the house. I can't help it, when you love somebody so much you just want to give them the world. Bailey's follow-up two month appointment was today. She weighed in at 10 pounds 11 ounces. Go Bailey! The doctor is no longer concerned about her ability to gain weight, and I can stop supplementing her LOL. I knew he wouldn't know the difference and that it was just her being sick that last time. This week has also been a lot smoother as far as the colic problems I was experiencing with her previously. She is still crankier in the later half of the day, but not a screaming crying mess so my sanity has returned (I think it checked out for a minute). I have been successful in keeping her awake for longer periods of time. I have not, however, been successful at the crib attempts. We did get the batteries for her mattress, the boom box with soft music and still no luck. I don't know if I need to be more hardcore about it, but I really hate hearing her scream so yeah... that's where we are at with that whole mess. When we finally get her in that crib peacefully we will celebrate.
