YAY JOHNNY!!!

Thursday, October 7, 2010

Our exciting news here lately is John got his big promotion!!  Three months ago he was promoted to be a District Financial Manager, which is still considered a test position.  But even though he just took on a new role he was still offered to become the General Manager of one of the stores in our district!  Unfortunately it is not very close to the house, about an hour commute, but this is the position he's been reaching for for the last three years and now he gets his shot!  Even with his short stay in the last position he was awarded District Financial Manager of the year at a conference he is currently attending!  We are so fortunate that he has a job he loves so much, and so excited about this new position.  Such a huge blessing!!!

We have a busy couple of weeks coming up.  This week is wedding week!  and then John will be taking a vacation before holiday block kicks in so we'll be off to Colorado to visit my best friend Jen and her new little one, and her other little one's first birthday!  Can't wait!  And then I will be cramming in Halloween events.  Bailey will be an umpa loompa this year, costume borrowed from her second cousin Annie who rocked it last year hehe.  Stay tuned...

Update

Monday, April 27, 2009

Thank you to all those who were praying for us, Johnny's job is safe!! He found out this morning, and now a huge weight has been lifted off his shoulders. Poor guy had to work overnight last night for inventory getting home at 6 am and then had to be back at 10 am to find out if he had a job or not and will be working until 8 tonight. He is dragging big time, and hasn't had a chance to be truly happy yet because he is so exhausted. But he will be ;-) once he sleeps and all. I will be spending the day cooking a yummy dinner for him so it'll be ready when he gets home, and making the apartment spotless so he can kick back, eat dinner, and relax. Now we can continue pushing forward with our dreams of a house freeing up the credit one card at a time, we're so close!! Thanks again everyone!

1 Year Anniversary; 5 Month Birthday

Sunday, April 26, 2009

April 2009: 5 months old

Well, we did it guys. John and I have made it through one year of marital bliss. I've heard from numerous married folk that the first year is the hardest, if that's true then we have some amazing years ahead of us :0) but I find that hard to believe because isn't that supposed to be the honeymoon phase? Regardless, I can't really call it very honeymoon like because during that year I spent 4 months throwing up, went through 2 major abdominal surgeries with two and half months of recovery time, boiled my eyeball (long story and not a happy one LOL), and have spent two weeks in the hospital... so maybe this year was a little harder than most, but it wasn't because of the marriage by any means. In fact I got through it all with nothing but optimism and positivity because I had John by my side through this roller coaster of a year. In the end it was all worth it to have this amazing little girl. No matter how hard it is or gets it's still a beautiful life.

Back from our coffee date

Our anniversary was perfect. We chillaxed at home for a while playing with Bailey, showering her with attention and affection since it also marked her five month birthday. My sister, brother-in-law, niece, and nephew came over and we all ate a delicious steak dinner that John grilled for us. We defrosted the top tier of our wedding cake to eat as tradition on our special day. I have to admit I was a little hesitant at first about eating something that had been in our freezer for a year, but it's tradition and it really didn't taste bad after all *whew*! Then we finished up the night with Candi and Bella babysitting Bailey as John and I headed to Cafe Brazil for a bottomless cup of the yummiest coffee bar ever. On our coffee date we reflected on how blessed we are, what this past year was all about, and what our future would have in store for us. John was sweating it all week wondering if I would be disappointed with such a relaxed day, but I really enjoyed every minute of it, especially the part where we got to venture out without the baby for the first time thanks to Sissy! In conclusion we are looking forward to spending the rest of our lives together, and wondering about all the things we will have to be thankful for next anniversary :)

The Art Show

Sunday, March 29, 2009

March 2009: 4 months old

Since Bailey is now 4 months old, we feel it is time to start introducing her to the wonderful world of art. John has been playing his guitar for her since she was in the womb so that she will share his love of music, and now it is my turn to show her as much art as her little brain can process. We have taken her to her first art show and she loved it.

Actually we were there because for the second year in a row Bella and Skylar's art pieces were displayed to represent there school's art program. It had nothing to do with Bailey, but her Aunt Candi did take her around the room to see all the art and she was just as in to it as the rest of us. Unfortunately I was having so much fun looking at all the cool art myself, that I forgot to photograph Bailey's reactions... BOO! Anyway, only a handful of pieces get selected to be on display from each school... like maybe 20, so it's a big deal and I am very proud of my niece and nephew for their talent. Bella actually had two pieces in the show this year!

Bella and her watercolor leaf and butterfly

Middle School Art

High School Art

I miss these days! Skylar is taking Band next year instead of art, so he won't make it in the next art show. But Bella seems to be taking after her mom so I have a feeling we will get to see many of Bella's pieces in future art shows!

Go Johnny!

Saturday, February 28, 2009

John received his 5 year certificate and his watch from Best Buy yesterday! We still have no word as to what is going on with the restructure, but he did receive the most amazing letter of recognition in his e-mail the other day. Back in October when he was interacting with a customer he had discovered some business needs this customer had and set him up with a Best Buy for Businesses program. Now that this customer's business is growing they have placed some major orders with the company which will end up saving his store from being under budget for the year, and the customer went as far to say "because of John's remarkable level of service in the store and the level of service he received from the business department out of the store he will never buy from anywhere else!" He just secured all of the managers in his store their bonuses that they were in jeopardy of losing! This letter of praise was written by the Best Buy Business Account Manager and was sent to every store manager in Texas and to every District Staff Member! It is always a good thing to have this kind of recognition pointing out you specifically to every store in Texas when there is a restructure in the works. Hopefully with this kind of recognition and his tenure that he has secured himself a job this next year. Either way I am super proud of my man and all of his hard work he does day in and day out! We love you Johnny!!
